Coleridge In Wales 2016

In 1794 Samuel Taylor Coleridge dropped out of Cambridge and travelled around Wales, dreaming of founding a new, fairer society. Wales influenced his poetry, and 2016 marks the 200th anniversary of the writing of his mid-life classic Biographia Literaria.

Exploring Coleridge’s vision and his underrated genius, singer and facilitator Richard Parry will set out with a band of artists, poets, musicians, actors, environmentalists, philosophers, story-tellers, cooks on the route of Coleridge’s two tours of Wales.

This weekend join them for The Return of the Ancient Mariner
is a series of community and symbolic happenings around Cardiff Bay on Sunday May 15th celebrating the beginning of the Coleridge in Wales Festival.

Bel Blue 2000 Days Music Video

My first visual project, Bel Blue 2000 Days music video is published on You Tube.

The track brought to mind some of the amazing paintings by Welsh UV reactive abstract artist Glyndwr Brimacombe, and I was delighted to have his permission to use some stills of his work.

I often collect short clips on my mobile as source material for my songs and enjoyed using some for 2000 Days. I used an imovie app on a mini ipad, with limited editing, which I  am still learning, but happy to share my first go.

The Welsh landscape informs much of my practice and the video includes footage from The Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales: Penarth Beach , The wishing tree at Tinkinswood Burial ground, Nash Point, and The Gower, Llangennith Beach. 2000 Days is a previously unreleased track by Bel Blue, recorded back in the day at Signal Box Studio, Cardiff Bay.
