I am over the moon to be doing some live recording with producer and musician Kevs Ford in the The Galilee Chapel at the remarkable St Illtuds Church, LLantiwt Major. The project is underway and includes some musicians from the local community Open Mic which takes place on the first Friday of each month at St Illtuds.
Bel Blue – Singer Songwriter
I returned to playing music after a long break, when a friend coaxed me to have a jam. I’ve been playing on and off ever since, finding ways to allow for my ways of creating.
My songs are often inspired by our relationship with nature, emotions and the landscapes that we inhabit. I wanted to try recording songs where they had been written, so producer Kevs Ford and I did a field recording of the title track ‘Our Places’ on the banks of the River Ely, Cardiff. The project grew from there into an album, although it wasn’t possible to record all the songs in situ.
In 2016 with the help of family and friends I released my debut album ‘Our Places’ a collection of my songs.
Its been a privilege to collaborate on projects with other musicians, poets and artists. This has led to some wonderful experiences in voluntary, community and disability arts in the last few years.
Thanks to everyone, family, friends, the folk/music community who have supported my music and encouraged me to share it. This has resulted in my songs being broadcast on folk and roots radio shows in Canada, America, Europe and in the UK, including BBC Radio Wales.
Thanks to all the amazing musicians who accompany me at times, including those who played on my album multi-instrumentalist Kevs Ford, AJ Constable on percussion and the award-winning Pontardawe based violinist Jamie Nemeth.
